I believe a key to happiness is gratitude. Rather than focusing on what we don’t have, life is better lived in a state of gratitude.
We take SO much for granted. We assume what tomorrow will be like. We assume we’ll even wake up in the morning, or that we’ll be able to open our eyes to see, or hear the sound of the alarm clock, or have the use of our legs to get out of bed. All of these things, we take for granted until we lose them. How many aspects of our lives do we take for granted? Almost everything, really.
When I think about all of the blessings in my life, I find most are not “things.” As I start to “count my blessings,” I find my list is quite long. The more I push myself to really think about it, my list is endless and ever growing.
I am reminded all of my brief experience on this earth is a gift.
Celebrate that gift. Be thankful.
